The Crib - An Mainsear
When our Lord was born two thousand years ago, it is believed he was born in a cave. Here at the Abbey tucked away under the hill giving a lovely atmosphere of intimacy is a permanent cave -crib.
The Crib is open every day to visitors, but of course the nicest time to see it is at Christmas. A rock in the cave is engraved and reads, "Were Christ to be born in a thousand stable, it would be of no avail were he not born in our hearts".
The Crib is part of the Rosary Way, is a permanent fixture and was built in 1987 by the local FAS workers.
