Iron Heater

A type of stove with slots on which stood various sized irons.

It was used for heating irons for laundry in large institutions. This method did not blacken the clothes being ironed as would sometimes happen if the iron were heated on an open fire.

This heater was used by the nuns at nearby Gortnor Abbey and was donated to the museum by them.
